JUSTICE FOR ALL

The Illinois Equal Justice Foundation funds civil legal aid programs across
the state, ensuring that all residents have equal access to the justice system.

These programs build stronger communities and a stronger Illinois.

More than 11,000 Veterans Helped through IL-AFLAN

August - Veterans ImageOver the past three years, the IL Armed Forces Legal Aid Network (IL-AFLAN) has helped more than 11,000 Illinois veterans, active duty military, and their families resolve legal problems that threaten their health, safety and livelihood.  The most common issues veterans came to IL-AFLAN for help with concerned 1) family law; 2) housing; 3) military/pension benefits; and 4) consumer/utility issues.

And beyond the number of people helped, IL-AFLAN is making a tangible impact on the lives of veterans across the state. Since 2017, IL-AFLAN has:

  • Secured more than $7M in financial benefits for veterans
  • Helped more than 370 veterans avoid homelessness
  • Secured more than $2M in VA benefits for veterans

Building on this success, the IL Equal Justice Foundation recently awarded more than $1M in grants to ten non-profit organizations providing civil legal assistance as part of IL-AFLAN.
