Legal Aid Programs Continue to Help Provide ‘Justice for All’
After Governor Pritzker entered the stay at home order, a Springfield police officer forced the Phelans to leave their residence, a motel, due to non-payment. They had nowhere to go, besides their car.
Land of Lincoln attorney Dowin Coffey quickly and fearlessly stepped in to help the Phelans. He filed a Temporary Restraining Order against the motel owner, which was granted. The Springfield Police Department has stated that they will no longer remove people from motels/hotels during this pandemic.
