JUSTICE FOR ALL

The Illinois Equal Justice Foundation funds civil legal aid programs across
the state, ensuring that all residents have equal access to the justice system.

These programs build stronger communities and a stronger Illinois.

IL Armed Forces Legal Aid Network Update

As reported in the June IEJF e-newsletter, the first round of grants was awarded to create the IL Armed Forces Legal  Aid Network (IL-AFLAN) in May.  Grantees have been hard at work developing the hotline technology, setting intake protocols, conducting outreach, and training staff and volunteers to serve the civil legal aid needs of veterans and active duty service members.  On August 1, the IEJF hosted a military cultural competency training  for grantees featuring Elisabeth H. Pennix, General Counsel of the IL Department of Veterans’ Affairs (third from right).  IL-AFLAN began a limited roll-out of its services in August with a full region by region implementation by Veteran’s Day.   More details to come!
