IEJF Honors Attorney General Raoul & Celebrates Two Decades of Impact
We were excited to gather with our board members (past and present), grantees and government and community partners at the IEJF’s recent Annual Meeting reception. At the event, the IEJF honored Attorney General Kwame Raoul with its Champion of Justice Award for his dedication to protecting the legal rights of Illinois’ most vulnerable residents and advocacy for increased state funding of legal aid.
We also celebrated the growth and impact of the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation. In 2000, when the IEJF was first created, we distributed an annual state appropriation of just $500,000 to legal aid programs across the state. We’re now proud to manage five separate state appropriations for civil legal aid – totaling more than $10 million in annual state funding.
