IEJF Awards More than $1.6M in Eviction Help Illinois Grants

With funding from the Illinois Department of Human Services, the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation has awarded more than $1.6M in Eviction Help Illinois grants to 16 nonprofit organizations. These grants will fund legal information, advice, representation and mediation services for Illinoisans impacted by eviction due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pandemic has placed millions of renters under the threat of eviction, with communities of color facing the greatest risk. As part of a statewide response, the IDHS is funding several initiatives to mitigate the looming eviction crisis. Legal assistance and mediation services will be a critical part of this statewide response to protect renters and keep people in their homes.
