IEJF Announces New Foreclosure Prevention Grant Program

The Illinois Equal Justice Foundation (IEJF) announces a new Foreclosure Grant Program to help Illinoisans in danger of losing their home due to the economic impacts of COVID-19. Through the program, the IEJF will award $2.4 million in grants over 18 months to support nonprofit organizations providing free legal aid and mediation services.
The primary focus of the funding will be downstate homeowners, though funding Cook County programs will be considered. Any funding directed toward Cook County is subject to availability and will complement, and work in coordination with, the Cook County Legal Aid for Housing & Debt (CCLAHD) Mortgage Foreclosure Mediation Program.
The Foreclosure Prevention grants are funded by the Illinois Housing Development Authority via federal Home Owner Assistance Funds (HAF).
