Good State Budget News: Civil Legal Aid Funding Protected
Thank you to the Illinois General Assembly for including four civil legal aid appropriations totaling $7.4M in the FY22 state budget passed last month. These appropriations, managed by the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation, will fund general civil legal aid services, the Illinois Armed Forces Legal Aid Network (IL-AFLAN), New Leaf Illinois and Eviction Help Illinois.
At a time when many communities are still recovering from the pandemic, this funding will help more people access the legal help they need to protect their homes, health and families.
We also want to thank our grantees and supporters for reaching out to their state legislators about the importance of civil legal aid funding. Your advocacy efforts paid off!
