Eviction Help Illinois Helps More than 61,000 Illinoisans in First Year

In its first year, Eviction Help Illinois has provided direct legal assistance, legal advice and information, and mediation services to more than 61,000 Illinoisans facing potential eviction. Eviction Help Illinois is an IEJF-led statewide network of nonprofit organizations, funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services.
Ease of access is a big advantage of Eviction Help Illinois. Anyone in Illinois facing a housing issue can access the program in the most convenient way for them – by phone, text, or via the website.
Eviction Help Illinois also helped launch the Kane County eviction mediation program – and set the stage for the launch of six additional judicial circuit mediation programs in FY22. Prior to Eviction Help Illinois, there were no eviction mediation programs outside of Cook County.
Looking ahead, IDHS has awarded the IEJF $3M to continue Eviction Help Illinois in FY22.
