CHICAGO (HOI) — A collective foundation of 20 organizations announced Thursday a new effort to provide free legal and advisory services to help those with marijuana convictions get their records expunged. New Leaf Illinois, formed by the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation, will be using funding made available by the 2019 Illinois marijuana legalization law. Those looking for relief can access an online portal to determine their eligibility. Legal aid organizations within the New Leaf Illinois Network will provide free services to income-level qualifying individuals in every region in Illinois.
