A group of nonprofit organizations announced the creation of a new network to help people get their records cleared of marijuana convictions. Members of New Leaf Illinois say over 700,000 Illinoisans could be eligible for expungement, but many need some help in the process. State lawmakers pushed to include record expungement in the law that legalized recreational marijuana back in 2019. Now, legal aid partners hope to pave the way for residents hit hardest during the failed war on drugs.
