SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) — Marijuana may now be legal, but many Illinoisans still hold criminal convictions from the past. A new state-funded initiative provides free legal aid to help get those convictions overturned. New Leaf Illinois is the name of the program that launched Thursday. The program is made up of 20 non-profit legal organizations that provide free legal representation to those with a criminal record relating to marijuana in Illinois.
