Complicated, right? That’s where a project called New Leaf Illinois comes in. Using proceeds from the legalization of marijuana, Illinois is funding an effort that gets people access to attorneys to help with the expungement process. Brandon Williams says it’s important because having a criminal record can hurt someone’s chances for housing, getting into a school or a job and even a job in the now legal weed industry.
