Those in the riverbend in need of legal advice, self-help materials, and guidance on how to use the court systems may be getting much needed help due to a recent grant.

In December, the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation Board of Directors approved 22 grants for 21 non-profit organizations across the state. Of those, helps out those here in Alton.

The Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation, which goes to serve thousands of low-income people in central and southern Illinois, will receive just over $250,000.

These grants were made possible by a state appropriation for civil legal air housed in the Office of the Attorney General.
